Questions and Answers: In-Depth Responses

I am a student of the MSc Wild Animal Health course at the IOZ, London. I vasectomized an Asian small-clawed otter recently. I'm in the process of writing it up as a case study and wondered if anyone else had any experience of doing this procedure?

The otter in question is 17 years old, and recent breeding has been very successful - almost too successful. The enclosure is now at carrying capacity, so vasectomy was deemed the most appropriate option.

Response from Lesley Wright

Edinburgh Zoo vasectomized their alpha male a couple of years ago, so they should be able to put you in touch with their vet.
